Does Pechito López return to Formula E?

The Nissan e.dams team has a free spot for Season 8 and Sébastien Buemi admits that he would like to share a garage with the Argentine.

The 2020/2021 championship of the Formula E It ended last weekend in Berlin, Germany, and although many began their well-deserved vacations, there are teams with pending issues to be resolved. One of them is the Nissan e.dams, which will no longer have Oliver Rowland in their ranks and needs a partner for the Swiss Sébastien Buemi.

“It's sad to see Oli (Rowland) go. He is a good friend and I like him very well and he has been very competitive but it is not my decision ”, said the Swiss about the departure of the British.

“We want the best possible driver for the team to try to improve the car further and make sure we can fight for the top positions. Whoever the team decides I'm sure will be the one ”, Agregó.

Asked if he would like a return to Formula E of the Argentine Jose Maria Lopez, with whom you share the team Toyota at World Endurance, Buemi did not hesitate: “He's obviously a good friend of mine; I have a great relationship with him and I would love to have him, but it is not my decision ”.

Pechito López competed in the electrical category between 2016 and 2019. In his first season, with the DS Virgin Racing, finished ninth in the championship. The last two were made together with the Dragon racing and finished in the 17th and 21st tournament.

The Swiss has just finished his most difficult season in Formula E, where he barely achieved 20 points and finished in 21st position. “We are disappointed, obviously. We have not achieved the expected goals, but we have been learning a lot. In the second part of the season we showed that we are quite competitive in qualifying ”he said about his championship.

Buemi hopes that the Nissan e.dams team will take advantage of the break to improve the aspects of the car that can continue to work. “Obviously the hardware is the same, but the software can evolve and we concentrate our work on trying to improve it, we are going to do that. We now have a fairly long break ahead of us and we are going to take the opportunity to work as hard as we can to make sure that when we return to Valencia for preseason in November we are very well ”.
