The seventh season of the Formula E entered its final stretch with the dispute of dates 10 and 11 that were held in the streets of NY, in United States. The German Maximilian gunther (BMW i Andretti Motorsport) won on Saturday; while english Sam bird (Jaguar Racing) celebrated on Sunday and became the new leader of the competition with four races remaining to lower the curtain on the championship.

At the Saturday competition at the red hook circuit, in Brooklyn, Gunther was escorted by the French Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Techeetah) and the Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi (Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler).

Gunther was in third position towards the end of the race when Vergne tried to overtake the New Zealander Nick cassidy (Virgin Racing), author of the pole position and leader of the peloton, and both had a little friction. This left Gunther free to overtake both and thus achieve his third triumph in Formula E after those obtained last year in Santiago de Chile and Berlin.

“In the end it was two positions that I was able to win in a single maneuver. Of course it is the dream scenario for any pilot. I took the lead with a few minutes to go and then we had everything in our hands because we had a good pace, good energy and I only focused on finishing the race "explained the German.

In the Sunday test, Bird was escorted by Cassidy, who thus took revenge for what happened the day before; and portuguese Antonio Felix DaCosta (DS Techeetah), current champion.

Bird had started this tournament in great shape with a win at Ad Diriyah and a second place in Romebut since then he only managed a seventh place in Monaco as his best result. However, this Sunday he achieved pole position and then dominated the race to reach his second win of the year and, incidentally, jump to the top of the drivers' championship.

"I'm really happy. And relieved, to be honest. It has been difficult recently. In Monaco we had a great pace, then we went to Mexico and it wasn't great. It was quite difficult for us. And we had many races this year in which we were crashed or taken out of the competition and many things but the pace has been good "said Bird, who was ninth on Saturday.

The penultimate date of the contest will be held in London July 24 and 25. The closure, meanwhile, will be at the German airport in Tempelhof on August 14 and 15.
