Scania presented the new K320 IB 4 × 2 interurban bus of the Green Efficiency Line designed to run on natural gas propulsion. The operating cost of these vehicles, compared to diesel, is 30% lower, which guarantees a sustainable solution with the lowest possible operating cost.
With an autonomy of 600 approximate kilometers with 215 m3 of CNG, the bus is powered by six tanks located at the front of the 150-liter warehouse, and you can load it at any gas station in the country that supplies gas.
The 9,3-liter engine and 320 CV, is part of the Euro VI 5-cylinder engine range, characterized by saving space and weight in the unit, without sacrificing performance. The bodywork is from Saldivia, a company committed to the design and durability of its products.
"At Scania we work on efficiency from all possible perspectives, both in terms of operating costs and environmental benefits, using the benefits of technology."He expressed Andrés Leonard, CEO of Scania Argentina. "We are convinced that the chosen path is the only one that will lead us towards a more sustainable and efficient transport system.”, Added the executive.
This type of bus has already been tested with successful experiences in cities such as Bogota, , Medellin, Madrid y Stockholm. The main benefit is that natural gas, even being derived from oil, pollutes up to 20% less than diesel; while the biogas is renewable and reduces the level of polluting emissions by 90%.
Jorge Vittar, Manager of Buses de Scania Argentina, detailed: “Due to the minimum level of noise and vibrations of this type of vehicle, these models offer greater comfort both for the driver and for passengers and inhabitants of large cities. We believe that it is in these three areas in which the entire system must continue to advance: better public transport, the commitment to energy efficiency and a defined path towards alternative fuels.".
Scania, a leading company in the world of transport, is at the forefront of a change that has already started, offering a complete range of products powered by gas and biogas, reaffirming that from a sustainable mobility, future generations will have the opportunity to inherit a cleaner environment and access a better quality of life.
