Pepe Migliore: "For me, GPAH is a reliving"

The former driver, who excelled in the authentic Grand Prix of the 1960s, runs at the age of 91 in the regularity competition organized by the Automóvil Club Argentino.

Although he confesses that he is not an expert in regularity races, Jose Migliore really enjoy participating in the Historical Argentine Grand Prize, competition organized by the Automobile Club Argentino which carried out the first of its four stages today. 

"For me this historic GP is a relive", explains Migliore, aged 91, to Automundo in the vicinity of the circuit Potrero de los funes, the epicenter of the test that takes place mainly in San Luis territory.

“I was lucky enough to run the real Grand Prix and even today there are people who come up to me and tell me that they saw me run, they are boys who at that time would have been 10 or 12 years old. People get excited when they tell me about it and I get excited when I hear them ", recalls Pepe, who competes with his wife Mirta.

Referent of Peugeot In its golden years, Migliore is loyal to the brand even today. That is why in all the editions in which he has participated, he did it behind the wheel of a Peugeot 404. And while consistency is not his thing, as much as he tried to take the hand of being precise with speed and time so as not to have too many penalties, enjoy the experience.

“I am not a specialist in this type of competition, but I come because I am happy. In addition, I like to drive and reconnect with the environment and friends. I notice that people give me their affection and that is important ”, He says.

Migliore showed off at the 1962 Grand Prix, the one who won the Swedish Ewy Rosqvist with Mercedes-Benz 220 official. Aboard a Peugeot 403 finished fourth overall and won Class E.

In 1968, with a Peugeot 404, he prevailed in the 1.000 Kilometers from Buenos Aires in the Buenos Aires racetrack and also in the San Juan-Coquimbo-San Juan. There the journalist Jorge Augé Bacqué, STROKE, baptized it as "The Condor" for his great performance in the mountains. In addition, he celebrated in The Return of the Apple between 1969, 1970 and 1971, the year in which he became champion of the TN C-Class with a Peugeot 504.

Pepe Migliore"Jorgito accompanied me in that race and in his article he said that he had been next to a condor and there I stayed, but I always preferred to be called Pepe ... The Condor is a bit big ... I never considered myself like that", he confesses before getting back behind the wheel of his car and living again.

THE RACE | STAGE 1

This Monday the first stage of the competition was held with the beginning and end in Potrero de los Funes with a tour that included 270 kilometers under intense heat. The 110 participants went through the hill Barroso, Nogolí, where the neutralization was performed, Rio Grande y El Trapiche, among other beautiful places.

The incident of the day was the protagonist Heriberto MartinezWhose Peugeot 404 caught fire for reasons that are still unknown. Fortunately, both Marteínez and his companion, Jorge Caviglia, they were unharmed.
