Toyota GAZOO Racing Argentina will develop the Corolla Sedan for the TCR

Once the homologation process of the Made in Argentina vehicle has been completed, it can be used in all TCR world championships.

El  Toyota GAZOO Racing Argentina was designated by Toyota GAZOO Racing Company as responsible for the development and subsequent approval, manufacture and marketing, exclusively, of Toyota vehicles for the tournaments TCR around the world. This news, which marks a milestone in the history of TGRA in motor sport, is also a fact of enormous value for the automotive industry in our country.

The model chosen for the premiere of Toyota GAZOO Racing in the TCR tournaments is the Corolla four-door sedan. Technical and engineering work has already started at TGRA headquarters. From there, the technical approval process of the vehicle will be initially coordinated, which, once finalized and approved by World Sporting Consulting (WSC), will be able to participate in the more than 30 regional tournaments of TCR or even in the world tournament WTCR of the FIA.

Toyota Corolla GR-SThe development of this product is within the policies of Toyota GAZOO Racing and continues to represent Toyota's commitment to push all limits to create ever-better vehicles. Over the years, Toyota has participated in different motorsports competitions, including F1, the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and 24 Hours of Nürburgring.

These activities were developed by different teams of the company: Toyota Racing, Lexus Racing and Gazoo Racing. On this occasion TGRA will be the protagonist of the TCR, becoming the exclusive manufacturer of the Corolla sedan version for the teams that choose this model to participate in the competition.

TCRThe TCR category for turbocharged touring cars with two-liter engines was conceived in 2014 by WSC, a company run by Marcello lotti, who had previously been the creator of the category Super 2000 which was developed at the FIA ​​European and World Touring Car Championships between 2002 and 2013.

The TCR International Series was contested worldwide between 2015 and 2017; then it was discontinued and since 2108 the FIA ​​WTCR - World Touring Car Cup- became the top of the TCR pyramid that currently consists of thirty regional and national championships licensed around the world.

During the six years since TCR was launched, 15 different brands of automakers have built a total of nearly 1.000 race cars to TCR specs.

  1. And what turbo engine is that car going to use? I understand that the engine has to come in some version of the car in the world, it has to be turbo but not necessarily 2 liters, for example. the Alfa Giulietta is 1.8 and the 308 GTI 1.6.
