The mythical Toyota GT 86 already has a worthy successor, the Toyota GR 86 that comes to complement the GR range of the Japanese brand and that already has the successful Toyota GR Supra y Toyota GR Yaris.
Launched in 2012, the original GT 86 reached the figure of 200.000 units sold all over the world. Now the GR 86 takes its witness with the promise of fun behind the wheel as it is expected to be the Lightest four-seater coupe in the segment, thanks to an extensive set of measures to reduce its weight, such as the use of aluminum in the roof and the body panels.
The dimensions of the new GR 86 are practically identical to those of the GT 86, which makes it possible for the new model to maintain a low center of gravity and thus unique agility. Torsional stiffness was also increased by 50% for an even greater ride feel and overall response.
The novelties also go through the engine. Powered by a new and very light driving four cylinder horizontally opposed and a larger displacement, of 2.4 liters, the GR 86's performance is one notch above that of its predecessor.
Functional aerodynamic components, such as the front vents and side rocker panels, among others, have been developed from the model's participation in motor racing, helping the GR 86 achieve the best anticipated levels of driving feel. and stability of its category.
