Until the end of March 2017, Toyota Motor Corporation will launch the second round of the Open Road project, mainly in Tokyo, with the participation of other companies and the general public, with a view to developing the full potential of the ultra-compact electric vehicle i-ROAD.
Under the Open Road project, Toyota will offer the i-ROAD to different users as "test drivers" for a specified period of time to assess the various mobility needs.
As in the first phase, Toyota will gradually increase the number of sites where associated services are offered, such as exclusive parking spaces - some of them with recharging - during the trial period, and will also develop and test other new services that consider appropriate.
The evolution of this validation project will be published periodically on a website created for this purpose: www.openroad-project.com.
Thanks to these user trials, Toyota hopes to study the best ways to develop products and services that take advantage of the i-ROAD's strengths and open up a new field of exciting possibilities for mobility.
