After testing a unit from the demo fleet of Scania Argentina, the company Transport Fríos del Norte SRL bought the first two CNG trucks of the line Green Efficiency of the brand for its activities of transferring refrigerated and frozen goods to almost the entire country and Mercosur.

“With regard to consumption, which is our main cost, the savings were 40%. We were greatly surprised because we did not imagine that it could be that much ", assured Marta Prado, the managing partner and commercial and operational director of transport.

ScaniaThe units acquired mainly cover the route that connects San Miguel de Tucumán, where the headquarters of Fríos del Norte is located, with the City of Buenos Aires, separated by more than 1.250 kilometers.

Due to the distance, the Administrative and Financial director of the company, Maria Eugenia Prado, confessed that before testing the Demotruck they had doubts about the distances for the fuel load. “However, in the test we had no problems on the routes that we usually drive”, clarified. In relation to loading times, Marta explained that "They did not take more than 20 minutes." Regarding autonomy, it was between 360 and 400 kilometers, according to the headlines of Fríos del Norte.

In addition to the significant cost savings, another reason for adding gas units was environmental: "We have been working on building a sustainable company, not only as a social contribution but also as a way to guarantee long-term commercial success, since most of the companies we work with have the same perspective", argued Maria Eugenia.

The company offers punctuality and reliability -something essential for the perishable segment-, thanks to a fleet of a hundred units, of which 98 are Scania. To avoid setbacks, all of them are served by Scania Argentina through contracts of Repair and Maintenance (R&M).

Through this system, the brand is responsible for the maintenance of the trucks at a fixed cost per kilometer traveled. Although most of the service is performed at the headquarters of the Scania dealership located in San Miguel de Tucumán, the vehicles are also serviced in other network workshops in the areas where they circulate.

“Our relationship with the Scania de Tucumán dealership is one of friendship and camaraderie. They have always supported us in our growth, they solve our problems and are by our side "added Cecilia Prado, the person in charge of Maintenance of Fríos del Norte.

The SRL emerged in 2007, founded by Antonio Prado, who was a truck driver and transporter from a young age. In 2019, already managed by her three daughters Marta, María and

Cecilia, got the HSBC-La Nación Award to Small and Medium Enterprises in the Female Leadership category, and achieved the highest recognition for the SME of the Year in that contest.

Additionally, both companies sealed their vision of a more sustainable transportation by signing a strategic alliance that seeks to strengthen this long-term bond in order to leave future generations a healthier planet.

Scania"It is very important that a company like Fríos del Norte, which are Scania's strategic partners, joins in having vehicles with alternative technologies to diesel, on the way to a more sustainable transport", projection Andres Leonard, CEO of Scania Argentina, who was present during the delivery of the units.

Among the clients of Transporte Fríos del Norte, companies such as Arcor, Carrefour, Walmart, Citrusvil, Swift, Ledesma y Rio de la Plata windmills. “Scania is a very important ally for us. For the type of merchandise and customers we have, we need a brand like Scania to accompany us on the routes ", concluded Marta Prado.
