Finn's future resolved Valtteri Bottas in the F1. The Nordic will leave the team Mercedes at the end of the year to join the Alfa Romeo Racing, as had been speculated in recent days. The announcement was made by the Hinwil, Switzerland-based team itself, which has yet to announce who the other driver will be.
As explained by the team, the contract with Bottas will be for 2022 "and beyond". In this way, the Nordic will achieve something that he could not achieve in Mercedes, a team that allowed him to win nine Grand Prix: have a multi-year agreement.
“A new chapter in my racing career is opening: I am excited to join Alfa Romeo Racing for 2022 and beyond for what will be a new challenge with an iconic manufacturer. Alfa Romeo is a brand that needs no introduction, they have written great pages in the history of Formula 1 and it will be an honor to represent it "Bottas explained.
"His potential is clear and I will enjoy the opportunity to help the team advance on the grid, especially with the new regulations in 2022 that give him the opportunity to take a leap in performance.", Agregó.
Regarding the remainder of the season with the German team, Bottas clarified: "I am proud of what I have accomplished at Brackley and fully focused on finishing the job as we fight for another world championship, although I also look forward to the new challenges that await me next year."
For its part, Frédéric Vasseur, Alfa Romeo Racing Team Principal, explained: “It is a pleasure to welcome Valtteri to the team and we look forward to our journey together. With him, we bring Hinwil an experienced strong team player to the front of the grid. Valtteri has been an integral part of a team that rewrote the history books and has four constructors' world titles to his name - he is the right driver to help Alfa Romeo Racing take a step forward.
With Bottas' future settled, it's a matter of hours for Mercedes to announce the British George Russell as the new companion of his compatriot Lewis Hamilton.
