Just three weeks after introducing the world's first fully electric truck V, the Volvo FL Electric, the company expands its product range by introducing a new electric truck. Its about Volvo FE Electric, which has been designed for heavier operations such as urban distribution and waste collection with gross weights up to 27 tons. This second model will also begin to be sold in Europe in 2019.
“With the introduction of the Volvo FE Electric we have a full range of electric trucks for urban operations and we are taking another strategic step towards developing our total offering in electric transport solutions. This opens the door to new forms of interaction with cities that seek to minimize the impact on the environment, reduce traffic noise and contribute to the reduction of congestion at peak hours, since business operations can be carried out silently. and without exhaust gas emissions, in greater volume first thing in the morning or late at night ”, said Claes nilsson, President of Volvo Trucks.
The first Volvo FE Electric, a waste collection truck with an attachment developed together with Europe's largest bodybuilder Faun, will start operating in early 2019 in Germany's second largest city, Hamburg.
“Hamburg, which was named European Green Capital in 2011, has long been working successfully to improve green and sustainable urban development. And this applies in the city transport sector where Volvo's electric buses are already being used in the public transport network. The shared experiences and goals make Hamburg a very interesting partner for us. ", he claimed Jonas odermalm, Vice President of Volvo FL and Volvo FE Product Lines at Volvo Trucks.
The new Volvo FE Electric will be available in different configurations for different types of transport applications. The work environment is enhanced by low noise and vibration-free operation. Battery capacity can be optimized to meet the needs of each application and charging is done through the mains or fast charging stations.
