The Swedish manufacturer of commercial vehicles V will launch the new Volvo FL Electric, his first 100% electric truck. According to the company, this model will allow it to lead electric transport solutions in cities.
The president of the company, Claes nilsson, he claimed to be "Immensely proud" to present their first fully electric vehicle for use in real traffic conditions and pointed out that their company is working for the sustainable development of cities and to benefit from electric mobility.
Volvo Trucks highlighted that a truck with an electric propulsion system offers different advantages, among which is the possibility of using it in closed spaces and also in environmentally protected areas.
"Their low noise levels create opportunities to be able to do more work at night, as well as reduce limitations on the roads during the day.", they assured from the Scandinavian company.
The development of this vehicle has benefited from the experience accumulated by the Volvo Group in this field, with initiatives such as that of Volvo Buses, which has sold more than 4.000 electric buses since 2010.
The new Volvo FL Electric, designed for city use, uses a 185 kW (248 hp) electric motor which is associated with two gearboxes. This model has a range of up to 300 kilometers without recharging the batteries.
The recharging time for the batteries in this vehicle is between one and two hours at a fast point, while night charging may require a period of about ten hours.
