Yamaha welcomed Franco Morbidelli

Yamaha announced two movements in their ranks as the Italian Franco Morbidelli will run the rest of the season and until 2023 in your official team of a MotoGP, while his place in the satellite team will be filled by his compatriot Andrea Dovizioso.

Morbidelli, Moto2 world champion in 2017 and runner-up in the premier class last year, will be the new partner of the current leader of the championship, the French Fabio Quartararo, who had been left alone after the breakdown of the Spanish contract Maverick Vinales. Both already shared a box in the Petronas Yamaha team in 2019.

I wanted to go back to a track that I know well and that I have very good memories of, such as Misano ”, said Morbidelli, who will return this weekend after missing the last five Grands Prix through injury.

For his part, his promotion to the official team will lead to the return to the World Championship of Dovizioso, who was without a team since leaving Ducati and who will be his compatriot's new teammate. Valentino Rossi until the end of this 2021 season.
